LEADERSHIP NOTES #3

Metro Christian Ministries Leadership Notes #3

We Are No Longer In The Information Age, But In The Transformation Age.

In The Transformation Age, What People Want And Respond To Is
 Trust, Simplicity And Results

The way that you have success in the Transformation Age is recognizing that what people want is no longer based on information and data you provide them with.

What people want and respond to today is someone they can trust –  a Trusted Authority in a given market place or ministry.

They want that Trusted Authority to simplify their problem in a way that demonstrates they’re truly understood and concerned for.

And finally, they need to believe they’ll get the desired results (or transformation) if they invest themselves in what the Trusted Authority has to offer.
In today’s world of too much information, people are looking for a short cut to get the transformation they want and need.

Your job as an entrepreneur is to become the Trusted Authority they seek, and to deliver to them the transformation they’re most looking for.

Your job as a ministry leader is to be the Trusted Authority that God has called you be, and to guide them to the transformation they need! Which is only found in Christ Jesus.

Note* I set out to journal marketing notes for MCTV; however I soon discovered that there is a principal here, which Jesus taught and we in ministry sometimes do not maintain in the forefront of our minds. That is (1) Be the person whom God called you to be. (2) Teach and minister the simplicity of the Gospel, knowing and understanding the pain which people are undergoing. (3) Guide them to Jesus which will bring a transformation to their lives and remove their pain and replace it with the joy of salvation.

Metro Christian Leadership Notes #2

Points to remember when being a guest preacher

1)  Don’t Go Over Your Allotted Time. Period. Its Rude And Disrespectful.

I don’t care how “inspired” you feel.  You have no idea the issues  (parking, service turnover, takedown, childcare) you create when you don’t follow the time frame they’ve given you. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AT OUR RALLIES MANY TIMES. ITS RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL.

2)  Don’t Make Controversial Statements The Church Staff Is Going To Have To Clean Up Later.

Your *funny* joke may have cost the pastor hours of meetings.  If you feel led to stir the water a bit do it on your own platform, not theirs.  They’ve probably spent years intentionally building integrity with their community and attenders.  You have the power to put that in jeopardy in one 30-minute message. ALSO YOU WILL NEVER BE INVITED BACK.

3)  Respect The Methodology Of The Church You’re Speaking In.

It’s quite simple.  Take time to understand their protocol.  If they do altar calls each week then you need to do an altar call.  If they don’t, then you don’t.  If you like to use outlines but their church never uses outlines, then take a pass and find a way to communicate your message without using an outline.  If you can’t jive with their methodology than you shouldn’t  have accepted the request in the first place. THERE ARE MANY CONGREGATION EACH WORSHIPING AND PRAISING GOD IN A WAY WHICH FITS THEM... RESPECT THAT!

4)  Take A Moment To Give Honor And Respect To The Pastor And Staff, But Don’t Overdo It.

I think it’s important to recognize the pastor and his leadership.  Say for him what in his humble spirit he would never say about himself.  But at the end of the day make sure you put the focus of the message where it really needs to be, which is on Christ. SPEAK FROM YOUR HEART; NOT FROM YOUR HEAD, AND REMEMBER THAT THE CLOCK IS RUNNING ON YOUR SPEAKING TIME AS WELL.

5)  Overall Always Remember To Be Respectful And Careful Never To Create A Stumbling Block.

Remember that it is an honor to be invited to speak to other congregations and that you should never take it lightly - Be Prepared! Be Conscience of the leading of the Holy Spirit. Be Aware and sensitive to the spirit of your audience. Proclaim just what the Lord has given you; No more. No less!
